REVIEWS:

"The gnawing omnipresence of an eating disorder becomes the source of body horror in Samantha Aldana’s accomplished, visually impressive debut." -The Guardian

"Shapeless is wonderful at creating a sense of dread, an environment that you’re worried about and worried to be in." - Flixist

“Aldana effectively uses genre and body horror to complement the story she, Murtagh, and Parsons-Twesten are trying to tell. The emphasis on genre heightens Ivy’s anxious reality, but it does not lessen the authenticity. The director is able to express the troubling reality of her protagonist, and yet keep the story grounded in colourful and musical New Orleans."- Popmatters

“...Shapeless is, ultimately, an immersive, intoxicating experience where the sensory trumps more orthodox narrative storytelling elements, a perfect fit when it comes to the film’s challenging subject matter.”- Alliance of Women Journalists

“Comparisons to Lynch are inevitable as Aldana’s directing style takes on a life of its own and creates a truly unique movie-going experience. (…) Kelly Murtagh is absolutely fabulous in the leading role.”- Film Book

“This dark tale of a woman losing an internal battle is told in a sensitive light and takes up important space in the horror realm.” - View From the Dark

“Shapeless is very much its own hybrid beast, simultaneously ugly and beautiful (…) yielding a portrait all at once tragic, horrific and – importantly – sympathetic, as a woman is undone by her own uncontrollable undiagnosed drives and urges.” - Movies On Weekends

“A powerful body horror about eating disorders, Shapeless delivers a methodical character driven tale.”- AIPT Comics

“Shapeless is an experiential and penetrating insight in the insidious, destructive and all-consuming scourge of eating disorders.”- Escape Into Film
